Boovaraha Perumal Temple is an ancient rock-cut Vaishnavite shrine located inside the historic Thirumayam Fort in Pudukkottai district, Tamil Nadu.
The temple is dedicated to Varaha, the third avatar of Bhagwan Vishnu, who is believed to have rescued Goddess Bhudevi (Earth) from the demon Hiranyaksha.
The rock-cut sanctum dates to the 7th–8th century CE and is attributed to the Mutharaiyar rulers, with later additions by the Pandyas and Vijayanagara kings.
The temple is renowned for its beautifully carved stone sculptures and cave architecture.
