Sri Varahi Temple is one of Odisha’s most remarkable Shakta temples, located in Chaurasi village, about 30 km from Puri and near the banks of the Prachi River. It was built around the 9th–10th century CE during the Somavamsi period.
Goddess Varahi (Barahi) is one of the Sapta Matrikas (Seven Divine Mothers) and is also revered as a powerful form of Adi Shakti. She has the face of a boar (Varaha), symbolizing strength, protection, and the destruction of evil.
She is regarded as the Shakti (divine energy) of Lord Varaha, the boar incarnation of Bhagwan Vishnu.
