In the past decade, UPI has changed how India pays, making digital transactions quick, easy and effortless.
From nearly 2 crore transactions in FY 2016–17 to 20,000+ crore in FY 2025–26, from Rs 0.07 lakh crore to Rs 314 lakh crore in transaction value, its scale has grown remarkably. Today, India accounts for 1 in every 2 global real-time digital payments, and even the smallest payments happen with a simple scan.
UPI has become so extraordinary that it now feels completely ordinary.
