Carved into the living rock of the Vindhya hills, the temple is adorned with exquisite sculptures of Shiva, Goddess Parvati, Ganesha, Bhairava, and other deities.
The historic Kalinjar Fort, once ruled by the mighty Chandel dynasty, derives its name from “Kala” (time/death) and “Jar” (destroyer)—meaning “The Destroyer of Time,” a title of Shiva himself.
