India has confirmed that 13 of 14 Indian crew members aboard the Panama-flagged tanker MT El Gaia have been rescued, while search operations continue for one missing seafarer.
The vessel came under attack off Oman’s coast — reportedly struck by an Iranian missile last month and hit again by a drone this weekend, according to US CENTCOM.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal thanked Omani authorities for the rescue efforts and reiterated India’s call for safe navigation and uninterrupted commerce through international waterways.
He called attacks on commercial shipping and seafarers “unacceptable,” as the Indian Embassy stays in close contact with Omani officials.
