A 50-year-old tantrik has been arrested in Salem, Tamil Nadu for allegedly sexually exploiting women and minor girls.The accused, Vijayraja, ran a tantra centre near Vazhapadi. He allegedly filmed women and girls with hidden cameras in the name of puja and tantra rituals and sold the videos on the dark web.Police recovered a laptop containing over 50 videos of women and schoolgirls. Some women were allegedly given spiked water or prasad to make them unconscious before filming.
The case came to light after he allegedly tried to molest a schoolgirl who had gone to collect donation for Vinayaka Chaturthi. The girl informed her family, after which locals caught him and handed him over to Vazhapadi police.Police said the accused earlier worked in a utensil factory.
After it shut down, he posed as a baba.During interrogation, he admitted that a website paid him for such videos. Police have seized his mobile and other digital devices and are probing if any other network is involved.
