China is set to test its supersonic aircraft that can travel at Mach 2. The TMS-10 demonstrator, developed by Tianmushan Lab and Beihang University, is in final assembly.
Unlike NASA’s X-59 (Mach 1.4) which dampens sonic boom into a ‘thump’, China aims to scatter and dissipate the boom by managing shock waves around nose and wings.
Top speed: 2,470 kmph. Future passenger version to carry 10-15 passengers and cut Beijing-Shanghai travel to 30 mins from 2 hours.
