IPS at 22, resigned at 28: What made wunderkind top cop Kamya Mishra walk away from uniform?

Former IPS officer Kamya Mishra, who famously cracked the UPSC exam at age 22, opened up about her decision to resign from service at 28. Known as Bihar’s “Lady Singham” for handling major cases including the Jitan Sahani murder probe, Mishra revealed that personal commitments and looking after her father’s business were primary reasons for stepping down.

Refuting rumors around her resignation, the 2019-batch officer emphasized that achieving her IPS goal gave her a distinct identity, but choosing to support her family business called for prioritizing long-term personal commitments over her administrative career.
