Shri Jugal Kishore Temple, Panna, Madhya Pradesh

The Rare Darshan of Shri Krishna in Kali Kamli (Black Blanket) and Hurricane lamp
A unique and rarely seen adornment of the divine Vigraha

At the revered Shri Jugal Kishore Ji Temple in Panna, Madhya Pradesh, a rare Kali Kamli (black blanket) adornment of Radha-Krishna was witnessed after nearly 20 years, in September 2026.

According to local tradition, this special Shringar is associated with a belief from the Dwapara Yuga. After Radha Ashtami, when torrential rains continued for over 24 hours and dark clouds covered the sky, Shri Krishna is believed to have worn a black blanket, carried a staff and a source of light, and ventured out in search of his cows.

To commemorate this divine episode, the temple adorns the deities in this distinctive form when similar weather conditions occur.

The rare Kali Kamli Shringar reflects the intimate, pastoral aspect of Shri Krishna’s life as a cowherd in Vrindavan, bringing alive the timeless bond between the Divine and His beloved cows.

A rare divine adornment where age-old faith, devotion and the enchanting leelas of Shri Krishna come together.
