Former India cricketer Virender Sehwag has credited Sourav Ganguly with helping build a fearless Indian cricket team during his captaincy.
Speaking to IANS during the promotions of the streaming reality show Rise & Fall, Sehwag recalled Ganguly’s simple approach: the team should respond to opponents in the same manner as they were treated on the field.
Sehwag said Ganguly made it clear that if Australia sledged them, the Indian players would give it back, while respect and affection shown by opponents would be reciprocated in the same way. He described Ganguly as one of the key architects of the fearless Indian team.
Sehwag also recalled how India, during Ganguly’s tenure, placed a strong emphasis on winning matches overseas and establishing itself as a competitive force in international cricket.
Meanwhile, Sehwag has taken over as the host of the second season of Rise & Fall, replacing Ashneer Grover. The reality show features 15 contestants competing over 42 days in a game centred on power, strategy, alliances and changing fortunes.
The contestants are divided into Rulers, who operate from the Tower, and Workers, who live in the Basement and compete for opportunities to move up. The second season also gives viewers a greater role, allowing them to influence which contestants become Rulers or Workers.
