Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has urged people, opposition parties and civil society groups to join a march to the Supreme Court on Monday, October 12. The march aims to submit a memorandum to Chief Justice of India Surya Kant over alleged electoral irregularities, the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists and the demand for Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation.
Calling for unity, Gandhi said people should not be afraid and urged citizens to participate peacefully, beyond party, caste, gender, community and state divisions. He also alleged that protesters had faced violence during the previous day’s demonstrations in Delhi.
We will submit a memorandum to the Chief Justice on behalf of the nation, demanding an end to vote chori, halting of SIR and the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar,” said Gandhi in the video.
“Don’t be afraid. We will march together, with love, brotherhood and patriotism. Tomorrow, all of India will march to the Supreme Court,” he said, adding that they will demand the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
