Rajinikanth has revealed the one thing he wishes had been included in his much-awaited film Jailer 2, and his answer has brought Tamannaah Bhatia back into the spotlight.
During a promotional event for the upcoming sequel, the superstar said he wanted director Nelson Dilipkumar to include a song featuring Tamannaah.
The actress had appeared in the original Jailer in 2023, with her performance in the song Kaavaalaa becoming one of the film’s biggest talking points.
The track, composed by Anirudh Ravichander, became a chartbuster, with its choreography and signature hook step gaining enormous popularity across social media.
Recalling its success, Rajinikanth said Tamannaah was the one element he felt was missing from the sequel.
He revealed that he had personally suggested including another song featuring her.
However, director Nelson Dilipkumar reportedly told him that a song could not be included simply because Rajinikanth wanted it.
The veteran actor responded by explaining that his suggestion was not based on personal preference but on what he believed audiences would enjoy.
Rajinikanth said that if he had spent his career making decisions solely according to his own likes, he would have become irrelevant and returned to Bengaluru.
Instead, he credited his longevity in cinema to understanding what audiences want to watch.
His comments have attracted attention because Tamannaah’s appearance in the first Jailer became a memorable part of the film’s promotional success.
The original movie was a major commercial hit, reportedly collecting more than ₹650 crore worldwide.
The sequel will see Rajinikanth return as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, the retired jailer whose confrontation with a criminal network formed the central storyline of the first film.
Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer 2 features an ensemble cast that includes Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, S. J. Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Vidya Balan and Suraj Venjaramoodu.
The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on October 15, 2026.
Although Rajinikanth has expressed his wish for Tamannaah to feature in another song, his remarks do not confirm that such a sequence is part of the final film.
For fans who still remember Kaavaalaa, the revelation has revived interest in the actress’s association with the franchise.
