₹35 PER UNIT! TAMIL NADU’S POWER CRISIS EXPLAINED!

Minister #CTR_Nirmalkumar explains why Tamil Nadu is purchasing electricity from the open market at ₹35 per unit.

Power expected from the central pool has not arrived, forcing the state to buy electricity from external sources.

Tamil Nadu has not received the 1,800 MW of electricity expected from NLC.

Without additional power purchases, the state could face 2–3 hours of power cuts.

The ₹35-per-unit purchase arrangement will continue only until October 31.

Only 1,500 MW will be purchased at this rate.

Electricity demand has increased by 5,000 MW compared to last year.

With power demand surging during last year’s Diwali, a separate plan is being prepared to prevent similar shortages this time.

The government plans to enter into long-term agreements to secure additional electricity.

The ₹35-per-unit rate is only a temporary arrangement, not a permanent one.

Tamil Nadu’s peak-hour electricity demand has exceeded earlier projections.

Buying electricity at ₹35 per unit is adding ₹5 crore in extra expenses every day.

No long-term electricity procurement agreements were made during the previous five years of DMK rule, claims CTR Nirmalkumar.
