Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra met parents of Ankita Bhandari at India Gate on Wednesday, Oct 14, where they staged sit-in protest.Family is protesting appointment of BJP leader Dushyant Kumar Gautam as Sikkim Governor announced on Oct 12, demanding it be put on hold till CBI probe is completed.Ankita’s father Virendra Singh Bhandari said, “Dushyant Kumar should be behind bars… I earnestly request President not to appoint him as Governor until CBI investigation is concluded.
“Mother Soni Devi appealed to President Droupadi Murmu, saying being a woman she would understand their pain.Ankita, 19, receptionist at Vanantara Resort in Pauri Garhwal, was murdered on Sept 18, 2022. Body recovered from Chilla canal 6 days later. Resort owner Pulkit Arya and 2 others convicted and given life sentence. Family still seeks probe into alleged VIP angle, allegations that remain unproven in court.
