Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday urged students and youth who faced alleged police brutality or unlawful detention during protests to preserve evidence. In a post on X, Rahul Gandhi said, “I want every student and youth who has endured police brutality or unlawful detention to keep a complete record of it – video or photos – these will be essential. Peaceful protest is your right. We will not allow anyone to snatch it away.
“He warned that those attempting to silence democracy will face harsh hand of justice, naming PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and CEC Gyanesh Kumar, adding it applies from top leadership to any constable. His remarks come amid ongoing protests demanding removal of CEC Gyanesh Kumar over alleged SIR irregularities, where NSUI activists alleged they were beaten by Delhi Police.
