No More Friday holiday in Uttarakhand Madrasas!

Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday said weekly holidays in recognised madrasas will now be on Sunday instead of Friday, ending Jumma holiday tradition. “There should be a consistent system for everyone, and all educational institutions should move in the same direction,” Dhami said in Dehradun.

CM said madrasas recognised by Uttarakhand State Authority for Minority Education (USAME) are now functioning as schools, so education department rules will apply equally. “We do not want an education policy based on appeasement. Institutions failing to comply will not be allowed to operate.”

Authority has recognised 76 madrasas so far – 44 in Haridwar, 24 in Udham Singh Nagar, 6 in Dehradun, 2 in Nainital. State earlier abolished Madrasa Board, brought all minority institutions under single framework, and shut over 200 illegal madrasas.
