During the annual Kali Puja festival, a magnificent 22-foot tall temporary clay idol of Goddess Kali (in Raksha Kali/Shmashan Kali form) is constructed and worshipped. In 2023, a permanent shrine constructed from high-quality Kasthi pathar (black stone from Rajasthan) was inaugurated, housing a 4.5-foot permanent deity adorned beautifully with gold and silver ornaments.
Inclusive Philosophy: The shrine functions under the welcoming motto: “Dharma hok jaar jaar, Boroma shobar” (Religion may belong to individuals, but Boro Maa belongs to everyone).
Naihati Boro Maa is a historic and highly revered shrine dedicated to Goddess Kali, located on Shyam Road in Naihati (North 24 Parganas, West Bengal). Originally founded in 1923 by a devotee named Bhavesh Chakraborty following a divine vision, the temple celebrates a century-long legacy of inclusive spiritual devotion.
