Five years after a failed mission, ISRO is preparing to send its “naughty boy” rocket back into space. The GSLV-F17 is set to launch EOS-05, India’s first geostationary imaging satellite, placing it around 36,000 km above Earth.
The satellite is expected to provide continuous observation of specific regions from its fixed position in space.
The mission carries added significance after the failure of the earlier GISAT-1 attempt. EOS-05 is expected to strengthen India’s Earth observation capabilities and provide a persistent “eye in the sky” over areas of strategic importance.
