Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple, Hosur

Not every sacred place begins with an ancient temple. Some begin with a mysterious sign of the Divine.

In 1998, while the land at Agaram near Hosur was being prepared for development, repeated obstacles led the locals to believe that something sacred lay beneath the earth.

A remarkable incident followed. A borewell drilled to nearly 850 feet yielded no water. Yet, on the temple land, a simple 7-foot-deep sump suddenly brought forth abundant water.

The natural rock found here, revered as Swayambu Sri Lakshmi Narasimha, bears a form believed to resemble Bhagwan’s Abhaya Hastha — the protective hand, symbolising divine assurance and protection.

In 2013, the 46th Jeeyar of Ahobila Mutt visited the site and recognised the rock as a rare Swayambu Narasimha manifestation. This became an important step towards establishing the temple around the sacred rock.

Today, this place stands as a beautiful reminder that faith can begin not with stone carved by human hands, but with a form revealed by nature itself.

“Where the Divine reveals itself, the earth becomes a sacred kshetra.”
