Shraddha Walkar murder case: Court Orders safety for Aaftab

A Delhi court has directed Tihar Jail authorities to ensure the safety of Aaftab Amin Poonawala, accused in the 2022 Shraddha Walkar murder case, after he alleged receiving death threats from fellow inmates.

During a hearing at Saket District Court, Poonawala claimed that five inmates had repeatedly threatened to slash his face with makeshift weapons over the past 10 days.

Additional Sessions Judge Hargurvarinder Singh Jaggi ordered the jail superintendent to take immediate protective measures and shift Poonawala to a separate ward or cell if necessary.

The court also directed authorities to submit a status report at the earliest.

Poonawala, who remains on trial for allegedly murdering his live-in partner Shraddha Walkar in 2022, is currently lodged in Tihar Jail No. 4A.
