Arthanareeswarar Temple, Tiruchengode Hill

A Very Rare Depiction of Ardhanarishvara

This is a very rare and beautiful depiction of  Ardhanarishvara, where Mahadev Shiva and Goddess Parvati are represented as one divine form—symbolising the eternal unity of Shiva (consciousness) and Shakti (divine energy).

Unlike many conventional Ardhanarishvara sculptures, this sacred representation at Arulmigu Arthanareeswarar Temple, Tiruchengode has a distinctive, highly devotional form and is especially fascinating to witness during the rare Garbhagriha Darshan.

“Shivaḥ Śaktyā Yukto Yadi Bhavati Śaktaḥ Prabhavitum”

Shiva becomes capable of creation only when united with Shakti.

A truly rare darshan of the divine union of Shiva and Shakti.

Arthanareeswarar Temple is one of the most sacred hill temples of Tamil Nadu, situated atop Tiruchengode Hill in Namakkal district.
