Shri Rajarajeshwari Temple, Polali, Karnataka

Located on the banks of the Phalguni River, about 19 km from Mangaluru, the ancient Polali Rajarajeshwari Temple is believed to date back to the 8th century CE.

The presiding deity, Shri Rajarajeshwari, is worshipped in a distinctive clay Vigraha, traditionally believed to possess sacred and medicinal properties.

According to legend, King Suratha established the deity and offered his royal crown to the Goddess. The temple reflects Karnataka’s rich heritage through its traditional architecture and ancient traditions.

The famous Polali Chendu Festival, featuring a traditional football game symbolising the victory of good over evil, is a unique highlight of the temple’s annual celebrations.
