PM Modi Hails Cabinet approval of Rs 7,814 Crore Critical Minerals Scheme

Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the Union Cabinet’s approval of a ₹7,814 crore scheme aimed at strengthening India’s critical mineral processing capabilities.
Emphasising the importance of technological self-reliance, Modi said India must develop the capabilities needed to build the technologies of the future.
The initiative seeks to expand domestic processing capacity for critical minerals, which are essential for electric vehicles, renewable energy systems, electronics and other advanced technologies.
The scheme is expected to strengthen India’s supply chains, reduce dependence on overseas processing facilities and support the country’s growing clean energy and manufacturing sectors.
The government’s move reflects its focus on building a stronger domestic ecosystem for strategically important minerals while improving India’s competitiveness in emerging technology industries.
