Dakshinamurthy, the Guru form of Shiva

“Silence itself becomes the highest teaching when the Guru is Dakshinamurthy.”
Dakshinamurthy is especially worshipped for knowledge, clarity, removal of ignorance and blessings for students and seekers.
Shiva is traditionally depicted seated beneath a banyan tree, in a meditative posture, with the 7 sages ( Saptarishi) receiving wisdom from him.
the seven sages traditionally said to have received teachings from Shiva as Dakshinamurthy, they are the Saptarishis of the present Manvantara:
Kashyapa
Atri
Vasistha
Vishvamitra
Gautama
Jamadagni
Bharadvaja
However, an important distinction: In the most common Dakshinamurthy iconography, Shiva is shown teaching four Kumaras—Sanaka, Sanandana, Sanatana and Sanatkumara—through silence (mauna-vyakhyana). They are not the Saptarishis.
