Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has created history in the Duleep Trophy, becoming the youngest player to score a half-century in the tournament’s history.
The 15-year-old reached the milestone in just 42 balls while playing for East Zone against Central Zone in the semifinal in Bengaluru.
Sooryavanshi achieved the feat at 15 years and 157 days, breaking a record that had stood for 57 years. The previous mark belonged to Laxman Singh, who scored a Duleep Trophy fifty at 16 years and 23 days in 1969.
Sooryavanshi went on to score 92 off 81 balls, falling eight runs short of a century.
