The Indian women’s hockey team has climbed to eighth in the latest FIH World Rankings following its historic campaign at the 2026 Women’s Hockey World Cup. India finished fifth after defeating Germany 3-1 in the classification match, marking its best World Cup finish since 1974.
The strong performance has moved India up the global rankings as the team continues to build on its progress in international hockey. The fifth-place finish also marked a significant milestone for a squad featuring 11 World Cup debutants.
