The Indian men’s hockey team successfully defended their Asian Games title with a dominant 5-1 victory over Malaysia in the gold medal match in Japan. Captain Harmanpreet Singh led from the front with a brace, while Jugraj Singh, Hardik Singh, and Shilanand Lakra also found the back of the net to seal India’s fifth Asian Games hockey gold and back-to-back titles for the first time.
The emphatic victory secures India’s direct qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, completing a historic double for Indian hockey following the women’s team’s gold medal triumph a day earlier.
