‘Women are expected to look a certain way’: Delnaaz Irai on Bollywood beauty standards

Actress Delnaaz Irani has spoken about the beauty standards in Bollywood, saying women in the entertainment industry often face pressure to maintain a certain appearance and have flawless skin.

In an interview with IANS, the 54-year-old actress acknowledged that she sometimes feels this pressure but believes in accepting herself and embracing the natural changes that come with age. She said women experience physical, mental and emotional changes over time and should learn to feel comfortable with themselves rather than constantly worrying about their looks.

Delnaaz also observed that societal expectations have changed across generations, with people today facing greater scrutiny over their appearance, choices and lifestyle. Currently seen in Netflix’s Chumbak, the actress emphasised the importance of staying happy, enjoying life and not allowing unrealistic beauty standards to dictate self-worth.
