Alum (fitkari) has traditionally been used in personal care, especially as an astringent and styptic.
It may temporarily reduce the feeling of oiliness and can help control minor bleeding from small shaving nicks. Alum salts are also used in some deodorant products because they can help limit odor-causing bacteria.
However, alum can dry or irritate sensitive skin, so avoid overuse and stop if irritation develops. Never apply it to deep or serious wounds.
