A controversy erupted at the famous Eiffel Tower in Paris over treatment of women staff.
Employees alleged that during a private visit by a delegation of around 100 people from Hindu organization Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) on Saturday, women employees were asked to stay away from the guests’ view.
Calling it gender discrimination, staff went on strike, leading to closure of the Eiffel Tower on Monday. Paris Mayor Emmanuel Gregoire has ordered an investigation into the matter. Some French leaders have also raised questions over the incident.
