Tears were reportedly seen flowing from the eyes of a Lord Ganesha idol at a temple in Mataji Ki Bawdi, located in the Tajpur tehsil of Ujjain district, just before the Ganesh festival. The incident, which began around 6:30 am, drew a large crowd of devotees to the temple.
According to local residents, the idol was not offered the traditional chola during a Nagar Puja organised by the village panchayat. Some villagers believe that the deity was displeased by the omission, leading to the flow of tears from the idol’s eyes.
To seek forgiveness and appease Lord Ganesha, villagers organised a special Maha Aarti. Prayers, chanting and devotional singing continued throughout the day as devotees sought the blessings of the deity.
