To strengthen women and girl students’ safety in Delhi, Delhi Police has increased scooty and foot patrolling by women personnel.
The Women and Child Special Police Unit has deployed 15 teams comprising 95 women cops across all districts. Patrols are focused around schools, colleges, markets, parks, bus stops, hospitals and sensitive dark spots, especially during morning and evening hours in areas like Mangolpuri and Paschim Vihar.
During patrolling, police are interacting directly with students to understand safety issues, monitoring eve-teasing, harassment and suspicious activities, and also spreading awareness about self-defense and cyber fraud prevention. Police have urged people to dial 112 in emergency and 1091 for women helpline.
