Indian Oil to now sell you water, plans to take on Bisleri with 43,000 outlets!

Petroleum giant Indian Oil Corporation is now entering the packaged drinking water business. The company will soon sell its own branded water bottles at its more than 43,000 outlets across the country. The move may seem small compared to Indian Oil’s size.

Its net profit for FY 2025-26 was Rs 36,802 crore and net worth is Rs 8.86 lakh crore. In comparison, market leader Bisleri International, which holds 35 to 40 percent market share, had total net revenue of Rs 2,814 crore and profit of Rs 316 crore in 2025-26.But Indian Oil has a big advantage, its network. As per reports, 3.2 crore people visit its outlets daily. People stop at petrol pumps to refuel, use washrooms and take a break, unlike other retail networks. The company will not manufacture water itself.

‘Manufacturing, packaging, warehousing, transportation and inventory will be handled by third parties. The bottle will have Indian Oil branding and will be sold at its retail outlets.’
