Dakshina Ahobilam Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Temple, Poovarasankuppam

One of the Ashta Narasimha Temples of Tamil Nadu.
Located in Poovarasankuppam village near Villupuram, Tamil Nadu, the ancient Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple is revered as Dakshina Ahobilam, a sacred abode of Bhagwan Narasimha.
According to temple tradition, after slaying the demon Hiranyakashipu, Narasimha blessed His devotees across Bharata Bhumi. At Poovarasankuppam, on the northern bank of the Dakshina Pinakini River, the Sapta Rishis (seven sages) performed intense prayers seeking His divine darshan.
Pleased with their devotion, Narasimha appeared before them along with His divine consort, Goddess Lakshmi, worshipped here as Amirthavalli Thayar.
The temple is traditionally regarded as one of the Chatur Narasimha Temples around Villupuram and one of the Ashta Narasimha Temples of Tamil Nadu. Its sacred heritage is associated with the Pallava period and the patronage of later rulers, including Vijayanagara king Krishnadevaraya.
Where the prayers of the sages met the grace of the Divine, Dakshina Ahobilam became a timeless sanctuary of faith.
