Among the 56 Vinayakas of Kashi, Shri Chintamani Vinayak is regarded as one of the most revered. It is believed that the mere darshan of this Swayambhu (self-manifested) form of Ganesha destroys all worries, obstacles, and sins of devotees.
According to the Skanda Purana (Kashi Khanda), when Ganesha, through His divine Yogamaya, brought about Shiva’s auspicious return to Kashi, Mahadeva was immensely pleased and bestowed upon Him the name “Chintamani.” He is described as the embodiment of the fifty Matrika letters, the all-pervading Parabrahman, and the bestower of all spiritual and worldly attainments.
Adorned in the sacred vermilion (sindoor), the ever-gracious Vighnaraja (Remover of Obstacles) blesses His devotees with the four Purusharthas—Dharma (righteousness), Artha (prosperity), Kama (fulfillment of desires), and Moksha (liberation).
