‘Missed finals by 0.2 Sec’ – R Madhavan reacts as son Vedaant misses Asian Games final

Actor R Madhavan took to social media to share an encouraging note after his son Vedaant Madhavan narrowly missed qualifying for the men’s 4x200m freestyle relay final at the 2026 Asian Games. Making his senior continental debut in Aichi-Nagoya, 21-year-old Vedaant teamed up with Sajan Prakash, Dhakshan Shashikumar, and Aneesh Sunil.

The Indian quartet clocked a combined time of 7:24.32 in the heats to finish ninth among 13 competing nations, just one spot shy of the top eight teams that advanced to the medal round.

Re-sharing Vedaant’s post on Instagram, Madhavan expressed pride and gratitude while highlighting that the team missed the final berth by an agonizing margin of just 0.2 seconds. Despite the heartbreak in the relay event, Vedaant’s campaign at the continental games is far from over. The young swimmer will return to the pool on September 23 to compete in the individual men’s 200m freestyle heats.
