Warm Foot Soak!

A warm foot soak can be a simple way to relax tired feet after a long day. Warm—not hot—water may feel soothing and can temporarily soften the skin, making basic foot care more comfortable.

You don’t need a complicated mixture to get these effects. Plain warm water is usually enough. Evidence that Epsom salt provides additional health benefits through the skin is limited.

Be cautious with ingredients such as apple cider vinegar, baking soda and essential oils. They can irritate or dry the skin, especially at higher concentrations. Essential oils should never be applied undiluted.

Keep soaking brief, then gently pat the feet completely dry, particularly between the toes. Applying moisturizer afterward can help dry skin, but avoid putting moisturizer between the toes.

People with diabetes, poor circulation, reduced foot sensation, wounds or infections should seek medical guidance before routinely soaking their feet.
