Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has warned that AI could become powerful enough to cause catastrophic harm, including events that could potentially lead to a billion deaths. Speaking ahead of an interview, Gates said AI safeguards and monitoring should involve governments and law enforcement, rather than relying only on self-regulation by tech companies.
