Divya Mittal may contest 2027 UP Elections from Chhanbey Seat!

A month after resigning from the Indian Administrative Service, 2013-batch IAS officer Divya Mittal announced her entry into politics as an independent candidate for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
Mittal, who earned widespread acclaim as Mirzapur District Magistrate for bringing piped drinking water to Lahuriadah village, dropped strong hints about contesting from Mirzapur’s Chhanbey constituency.
To win as an independent, the IIT-Delhi and IIM-Bangalore alumna will need to shatter a 60-year electoral record, as no independent candidate has won the Chhanbey assembly seat since 1967.
