Rs 2 crore budget, Rs 400 crore earnings: Richa Chadha reacts to Hanuman Ansh’s blockbuster success!

The film ‘Hanuman Ansh’, based on the life of Neem Karoli Baba, is receiving a strong response from audiences. The film has been earning consistently well at the box office and, made on a budget of ₹2 crore, has reportedly collected around ₹400 crore so far. Actress Richa Chadha has now spoken about the film’s success, explaining how a low-budget movie managed to become such a massive hit.
Richa Chadha was asked whether 2026 has been a particularly successful year for content-driven films, especially since ‘Hanuman Ansh’ has emerged as one of the year’s biggest surprise successes. The actress said it would be too early to draw such a conclusion.
She also discussed the reasons behind the film’s success and explained what would be needed for Hindi cinema to rely more on strong content and well-written scripts.
Richa Chadha disagreed with the view that 2026 has been a landmark year for content-driven films. Instead, she described the success of ‘Hanuman Ansh’ as a different case and pointed out that factors beyond content have also contributed to the film’s performance.
The actress said Hindi cinema cannot be directly compared with Hollywood and noted that religious and mythological films generally tend to perform well. According to her, such movies are easy for audiences to watch and many people naturally enjoy them.
She therefore believes it would be premature to conclude that audience preferences have undergone a major shift based solely on the success of ‘Hanuman Ansh’.
