Thai Woman Alleges ₹60 Lakh Fraud & Religious Conversion Pressure in Kanpur

A Thai woman in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, has accused Mohammad Irfan of allegedly taking around ₹60 lakh from her and pressuring her to convert her religion.
According to her complaint, the two met on Instagram around four years ago and later entered into a relationship. She claims they married according to Thai customs nearly two years ago and has submitted wedding photographs and other documents to the police.
She alleges that Irfan, who reportedly travelled to Thailand for business, gradually borrowed money from her on multiple occasions, totalling around ₹60 lakh. When she later asked for the money to be returned, she claims he instead asked her to convert her religion and move to India with him.
The woman further alleges that she was unaware Irfan was already married. She claims she discovered only after reaching his home that he had reportedly been married for around 14 years and has three children.
She subsequently approached the police and met ADCP (East) Shiva Singh, submitting documents related to their alleged marriage. She told officials that her immediate priority is recovering her money, as she has monthly loan repayments in Thailand and had also borrowed part of the amount from others.
She alleges that Irfan has not repaid any of the money so far.
