“Terrorism can never be justified or rationalised”: EAM Jaishankar calls for stronger global resolve

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has called terrorism a “deadly threat to peace,” urging countries to strengthen global cooperation and adopt zero tolerance towards terrorism in all its forms. Speaking at the Chinmaya Amrit Mahotsav Global Sammelan in New Delhi on UN Day, he said using terrorism as an instrument of statecraft was unacceptable and could never be justified.

Jaishankar also stressed the need for equitable economic development, warning that unequal prosperity in an interconnected world could fuel instability. He called for reforms in the United Nations, saying the global body must give a greater role to underrepresented countries in decision-making and take the lead in addressing international crises.

His remarks came after India condemned the October 23 attack on a church in Karak, Jordan, which killed seven people and injured 34. New Delhi expressed condolences to the victims’ families, wished the injured a speedy recovery and reaffirmed its commitment to fighting terrorism globally.
