Garlic & Honey: What They Can—and Can’t—Do

Garlic and honey are common kitchen ingredients with different nutritional properties, and both can be part of a balanced diet.
Garlic: Contains sulfur compounds and adds flavor to meals. Some research suggests garlic supplements may modestly support healthy blood pressure and cholesterol levels in certain people.
Honey: Can help soothe coughs in adults and children over one year old. However, it is mostly sugar, so moderation is important.
Important safety note: Never give honey to babies under 12 months because of the risk of infant botulism. Garlic supplements may also interact with certain medications, including blood thinners.
Neither garlic nor honey is a miracle cure. Enjoy them as part of a balanced diet, and seek medical advice when symptoms persist.
