LPU protest turns chaotic as videos show students allegedly looting campus mall

Several videos from Lovely Professional University (LPU) in Punjab’s Phagwara have surfaced online, allegedly showing people entering shops inside the university’s Uni Mall and taking food, gadgets and other items amid the violent protests on Sunday.

In one video, a voice can be heard saying, “Free mein shopping, shopping done,” as people move around inside a store. Another clip shows a person pointing towards items in the mall and saying, “What do you need? Order now, will get everything for you in free.”

Other videos purportedly show people eating food inside the mall, while separate visuals show shops and other property damaged during the unrest. The videos have not been independently verified, and it remains unclear whether everyone seen taking items was an LPU student.

The alleged looting was reported amid escalating protests over claims that a female student had allegedly been raped on the campus. The unrest turned violent, with protesters reportedly vandalising property, attacking police vehicles and blocking National Highway 44.
