“Never my intention to offend” – Sanjay Dutt clarifies can’t feel peace in India Remark

Sanjay Dutt has issued a clarification after facing backlash over his recent comment that he can’t feel peace in India. A clip from his appearance on Shekhar Suman’s show Shekhar Tonite went viral where he said the people of this country are lovely and there should be peace here but he can’t feel that peace anymore. On Sunday the actor clarified on X that his remarks were made in the context of a scripted conversation intended to be light hearted and humorous.
He said the spirit behind it was similar to the humour and satire seen in Munna Bhai, particularly the concept of Gandhigiri which conveys love, warmth and togetherness. He added that it was never his intention to hurt, offend or disrespect the sentiments of any individual, community or institution and his words were interpreted outside of intended context.
The Gandhi Jayanti episode also featured Dutt imagining what he would do if he became Prime Minister of India.
