Bollywood actor Imran Khan and his girlfriend Lekha Washington were among over 400 people detained by Mumbai Police at August Kranti Maidan during a protest in support of the Delhi agitation demanding resignation of chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, an FIR was registered at Gamdevi police station. Lekha, born on April 30, 1986, started as a sculptor in 2002, worked as a video jockey for SS Music and later acted in Tamil films like Jayamkondaan, Vedam, Va, Huduga Hudugi and Hindi film Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola.
She grew up in Chennai with mixed Burmese, Italian, Punjabi and Maharashtrian roots, studied at Good Shepherd Convent and Stella Maris College and did lifestyle product design from NID. She shared on social media that she is safe and returning home with Imran and her cousin Jain after release.
